The Wedding Band...It’s the expression of your love and commitment.
Make sure you’ve chosen the right one!
We have a couple of tips to help you through the selection process.
For the bride, if you’ve always dreamed of that diamond band to wear with your engagement ring, we’re here to show you how to “marry” the two.
If an active life may seem too hard on an “eternity” band (one with diamonds all the way around) we can give you the look in a band that will stand up to the wear and tear of your busy life. On the other hand, the answer may be in selecting one simpler ring for everyday and another to dazzle for making that grand entrance!
Don’t feel you have to look at matching bands for you and your husband. It’s important for him to feel comfortable in his chosen ring, as it will be on his finger everyday, whether on the golf course or in the board room! If the “matching thing” works out for you both, terrific. If not...you can look for some element that coordinates (even matte finish or polished) it’s not something to stress about! Our experienced staff will find just the perfect fit, in design and comfort, to suit you both.
*Remember to leave enough time before the wedding for sizing and engraving….
Comfort, Style and Durability
Since the wedding band is worn everyday it’s important to consider comfort, lifestyle and design…
The most popular band widths for women are 5mm to 6mm (compared to 4mm to 8mm for men). Some women prefer a narrower band if it will be worn beside another ring.
Here are some popular wedding band styles:
- • Comfort Fit - A newer style with a slightly concave inner depression and smooth rounded edges.
- • Flat Pipe - Linear, understated, and often decorated, with a basic rectangular cross section and slightly rounded edges.
- • Half Round – The most traditional look with a domed or raised center and an inner hoop that is flat. It sometimes has a beaded or "milgrained" edge for decoration.
- • Squared Bottom – A more contemporary design with a squared bottom that creates a flat surface for added comfort when the hand is open and laid palm down.
Choosing Your Precious Metal – Mix or Match?
Yellow gold, white gold, and platinum are the most popular choices for engagement and wedding rings. Their beauty and durability ensure your fiancée’s ring will last forever.
- • Yellow gold is considered by many to symbolize the warmth and love of marriage.
- • Platinum makes a stylish statement. It is the hardest metal and safe (“hypo-allergenic”) for those who may have an allergic reaction to alloys used in other metals. This is the purest of metals and our most
popular selection. - • White gold is gold mixed with white metals such as nickel or silver. It is usually coated with rhodium, a silver white metal. To keep it looking its best, it may need to be re-plated annually depending on the natural makeup of the skin.
- • Precious metals come in polished, matte and satin finishes.
