Wedding Flower Arrangements - Centerpieces
By Melanie Wade
When you think of weddings, the main wedding flowers arrangements that spring to mind is the bridal bouquet, followed by the bridesmaids bouquets, the buttonholes for the groom and his best man, wedding church flowers and then possibly the wedding flower centerpieces.
When thinking about wedding centerpieces its important to understand that these important pieces needs to co-ordinate with the rest of the wedding floral arrangement as they will set the mood for the reception.
When thinking about wedding flower centerpieces keep an open mind, there are so many great ideas to choose from ranging from simple flower arrangements, to the more elaborate flowers and candles arrangements and everything else in between such as birdcages and fruit baskets.
When choosing your centerpieces establish what the theme of your wedding is going to be, what color scheme you are following and what sort of reception you would like, doing it this way will help narrow down your choice of centerpieces.
If you are going to have a very simple affair then massive over the top floral arrangement is not quite going to compliment the scene, however, choosing to have some simple arrangements in a vase will blend into the surroundings perfectly.
A few ideas for creating the perfect centerpieces
- Its important to choose the right container or vase to hold your flowers, remember that your guest will enjoy looking at the wedding flowers arrangements however they will not enjoy the fact that they cant see the person across the table from them because of an ugly oversized vase.
- If choosing a tall vase make sure that it is a clear see through glass this way it can support long stemmed flowers while at the same time guest can see through the vase without their views being obstructed.
- If your flowers need to be placed in an oasis choosing a short colored vase will support and cover the oasis well while showing off a beautiful display, and the guest still able to carry on a conversation across the table at ease.
- Remember there are so many different shapes and sizes of vase to choose from and finding the right one to hold your arrangements might take some time, therefore taking some time to look at a few pictures before hand might help in saving you some time, or you might have a wedding co-coordinator, this will make the process a whole lot easier, you can relay your ideas of what you like and don't like and they will do the hard work of perfectly matching the right vase to your flowers.
- Not because you are using flowers means that they need to be placed in a vase, if you are having an outdoor wedding a simple birdcage with an oasis placed inside covered with delicate rose buds and sprigs of baby's breath can create a beautiful and simple centerpiece.
- At the end of the day your wedding flowers arrangements can only reflect the ambiance that you would like your guest to feel, and no one knows them better than you do.
